Andrea Couto
Andy was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina where she received her physical education degree and teaching credential at the Private Institute of Physical Education.
She began teaching aerobics more than 25 years ago in her native town where she created and lead the aerobic segment of “Su Salud al Dia”, a national television show.
After moving to the USA en 1988, she received certifications and worked as a group exercise instructor, personal trainer and aqua aerobics instructor. She also directed several group exercise programs in the San Francisco Bay Area, and was a competitor at several regional aerobic competitions; body building championships; open water swim races and road races.
In 1997 she pursued a certification as a Medical Exercise Specialist in order to work with special populations and post-rehabilitation clients. She also got certified as a Pilates Instructor to better serve her clients suffering from back problems.
In 2000 she moved from California to Georgia were she got certified as an Older Adult Fitness Trainer, she also got her Gyrotonic and Pilates apparatus training as well as a yoga certification.
In Atlanta she worked as a personal trainer and group mat-pilates instructor in several health clubs, fitness centers and pilates studios. She also worked as a private pilates instructor at a physical therapist’s office offering her services to clients of all ages and fitness levels.
In 2006 she moved to Massachusetts where she pursued a Certificate in Gerontology and a second comprehensive pilates certification through Balance Body University.
Andy and her husband relocated to Minneapolis in December 2008 where she worked as a Post-Rehabilitation Pilates trainer at a physical therapist office.
Now back in Atlanta she is ready to continue her education and to continue offering her services in the fitness and post-rehab field.
